While driving across the country in the summer of 2011, it occurred to me that many of Britney Spears’ songs include the word ‘crazy.’ The more I thought about it, ‘baby’ popped up an awful lot, too.
When I returned to Brooklyn, I sat down one Thursday and cut together every time anyone says one of those words in any of her songs. In chronological order. The end result is, depending on who you ask, a thorough critique of pop music’s evolution over the last decade or a psychologically debilitating instrument of torture.
At any rate, the Huffington Post liked it, so I consider that Thursday afternoon well-spent.
